Board Questions

Do you currently have board openings?

Yes we do. We are currently taking board applications if you would like one just use our contact us page and ask.

 

Do board members have to be members?

Yes we do require board members and committee members to be members of the INOA. 

 

How much do you get paid to be a board member?

INOA board members donate their time and talents to the INOA. We are not paid financial compensation through Indiana Opticians Association. Some of us freelance our talents to other groups and our help can be requested for other things, projects, or classes. Board members may be hired for that freelance work but that is not paid by the INOA.
 

Event Questions

All of your events have been via Zoom. Will you ever do an in person event?

At this time, probably not.  The INOA wants to make sure CE's are accessible to all opticians in our state. The easiest way to do that is via Zoom / Webinar options. We want to make options available so you do not have to fight to find CE's that will not only help you with your Certification but help you in your work place.  

 

Will event tickets always be free for members?

The INOA knows times are tough. We want to try and assist our members as much as possible. When we can offer a free ticket for members we absolutely will. If it is not free it will still be at a deep discount compared to non-member tickets. This is a benefit for membership that we hope you enjoy and take advantage of by attending as many classes as possible. 

 

If I already have the CE's I need for renewing my certification can I still come to a event?

ABSOLUTELY!  We would love it if you came to an event anyway. If you are just hanging out to learn let us know and we will make note and just not send the paperwork for CE's to you if it's not needed.
 

Sponsorships

What companies do you sponsor with?

Sponsorships are one of the main ways non-profits make money and run events. We work with many companies especially for events. If an event has a specific sponsor their logo can usually be found within the advertisements on our website or social media. 

 

Do sponsors just donate money?

Sponsors can donate money for one event or to just the INOA in general. However it does not have to be only funds that are donated. Some donate speakers, classes or door prizes for an event. 

 

I want to sponsor the INOA how can I help?

Thank you. That would be great and we love the help. You can sponsor the INOA in many different ways. We have a yearly option with different levels or you can donate for a specific event. If you would like to be a sponsor but not give a monetary donation we can always use a speaker for a future event and we need door prizes for our events and giveaways. We are happy to customize an opportunity for your company or business. Just reach out to us via our Contact Us page and we will get in touch with you.

 

To be a sponsor do I have to be in the eyecare field?

Nope! We have had mostly eyecare fields of coarse but we also work with artists, small businesses, and independent contractors frequently. 

 

I was at an event and would love to learn more about one of your sponsors.

Great! Contact us with your information and inquiry. We will be happy to share your info with the sponsor and help you make that connection.

 

Fundraising

What is Zeffy?

Zeffy is a fundraising platform used only by non-profits.

 

Why do you use Zeffy?

Zeffy is an awesome way for us to not only raise funds but keep in contact with our donors and members. They are very helpful and we love working with them.  Zeffy is completely free for us to use. When you donate through our Zeffy forms we receive 100% of the money you donate. No fees are taken out by Zeffy. 

 


Social Media and Website

I am friends on social media with you but it looks like you do not follow me?

That would be correct. As the INOA we do not follow individuals or even many companies. It makes it easier for our moderator of our social media campaigns. As we grow so does our social media accounts which is great but harder to manage with a small social media crew.

 

I love your ads on social media, who does that?

Aww Shucks <blushing> INOA ads and flyers are mostly all done by one of our board members. If you want to reach out to her you can use our contact form and we will make sure the information gets to her.  She will get back to you.

 

Your website looks great. Who designed it?

We use a company called IONOS for our website and have been very pleased with the options they have available. Lots of templates to choose from and very easy to maneuver.   As for the information and upkeep and all the fun things having a website entails that would all be a board member who donates their time and skills.
